Rina Onur is the General Partner of 500 Startups Istanbul which is micro VC fund focused on the Turkic region and the Turkish diaspora, and Co-Founder of Peak Games, the leading gaming company of Turkey & MENA, and HemenKiralik.com, the largest short-term property rental platform in the region. Rina co-founded Peak in October 2010 and raised $30m in VC funding for the company to develop games that fit the unique interests of emerging markets.
Following Peak’s success, Rina co-founded Hemenkiralik.com, the leading local marketplace for short-term rental space in Turkey targeted at domestic and neighboring markets with over 40,000 unique properties. Rina helped HemenKiralik raise over $6m in funding to strengthen its presence not only in Turkey, but also in MENA and Eastern Europe. Hemenkiralik’s investors include Homeaway, the world’s largest vacation rentals network spanning over 1m holiday homes, now acquired by Expedia. Before venturing into the Turkish startup ecosystem, Rina has worked as an investment banker for Morgan Stanley and as an investment professional at Turkven Private Equity.
Rina holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University and is a founding member of the World Economic Forum: Global Shapers Istanbul Hub.
